Cloud technologies bring significant cost reductions for businesses. Large enterprises are steadily adopting the cloud for less critical applications and in order to downsize data centers. The latest cloud computing architectures reap the benefits of business agility, vendor choice, and access to next-generation architectures.
Companies are concerned about the control they have over the cloud. When a company heavily relies on IT running to function, they are less likely to adopt. Additionally, companies who feel job security could be at risk after moving to the cloud will also adopt less quickly. Large enterprises worry about the time it takes to move their current datasets into and out of the cloud.
ZDNet’s suggestion: Cloud computing will not have widespread adoption until workloads can seamlessly transfer back and forth between a company’s private cloud and public/hybrid cloud. Such technologies are now starting to slowly emerge. Get ahead of your competitors by investing in cloud standards to build private clouds. This way, your company can practice transferring services back and forth safely, saving you time and potential problems in the future.
